Emily Scott
Summer 2024 & 2025 Intern
Emily is a rising junior at Santa Clara University (SCU), majoring in Physics with a minor in Mathematics. During her first summer (2024), she worked alongside the DMQIS group, where she helped build and carefully characterize a multi-layer METGlas magnetic shield. That shield is now routinely used to mitigate magnetic field effects in the vicinity of a DMQIS dilution refrigerator cryostat where quantum sensors and devices are operated. This past summer (2025), she worked alongside Betty Young (SCU) and Sidney Stevens (SLAC) to design and test a calibration system for single-photon detectors in the THz range.
